The Daniel Pearl Award for Outstanding story on South Asia is presented to Paul Kvinta (center), National Geographic Adventure, for "Stomping Grounds," an in-depth report on the spreading conflict between elephants in northeastern India and the people who share their habitat. He shared the award with photographer Ami Vitale, who shot the assignment and was unable to attend the ceremony. He is shown here with SAJA Journalism Leader Award winner Stephen B. Shepard (left) and SAJA awards committee chair Sandeep Junnarkar (right).
