Lincroft, New Jersey, 9/20/14: Chitra Venkateswaran (right) inserts Hema Ramaswamy's nose ring. Hema, a young Indian American woman with Down syndrome, is preparing backstage for her arangetram, the public performance of bharata natyam, a traditional South Indian dance form. She studied with Chitra in preparation for this recital for four and a half years.
